Physical properties:white to pale yellow granular, rod or powder. It is hygroscopic. Decompose when heated to more than 320℃. Slowly oxidizes to sodium nitrate in the air. Decomposition of weak acid releases brown nitrous oxide gas. Soluble in 1.5 parts cold water, 0.6 parts boiling water, slightly soluble in ethanol. The aqueous solution is alkaline with a pH of about 9. It is oxidizing and can burn and explode in contact with organic matter and give off poisonous and irritating nitrogen peroxide and nitrogen oxide gases. Application:
